Faith As Absolute Concern

Faith can be profoundly expressed as “ultimate concern” or in other words, what we are ultimately concerned about (Tillichian). Faith must express itself toward the subject of its ultimate or absolute concern in a manner consistent with what it holds as its infinite priority. Failure to do so in an on-going dialogue between the finite (existential being) and the infinite (Eternal Godhead) which expresses the principle of identity critically leads to demonic destruction in the subject of faith’s existential state. This demonic destruction takes the form of both the divine and the demonic at the same instance allowing the demonic to appear as light. This is the Apostle Paul’s declaration concerning deceitful workers when he writes: “And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.” (2 Corinthians 11:13-15). Many of us have had individuals walk into our lives appearing as light and we have made them a priority sacrificing greatly towards their happiness and our own only to discover the darkness that they were living in that allowed satan and his forces to deceptively destroy part or all of our lives. We must accept that our faith in the God of our salvation and His Christ was given to us as a protective measure against the forces of darkness and that placing our absolute concern in anyone else or making them our highest priority violates this protective measure leading to demonic destruction.
